Lycanthropy

The rose of my veins, it was blooming red with thorns,
piercing the sky from the depths of my core.
As the wings of Icarus caught heat and fell,
I fell into a sea of tears and sweat and blood to drown all night.

Coming down fast from some divine heights,
lightning flashed and I'm missing time.
Too fast to live and I'm too numb to cry.
History repeats and I go for the ride.

Wax and wane, addicted to change.
First came love and then came the pain.
The rites of Spring lead to pleasures of flesh,
then onto the rush of feeling nothing.
I sink to the sound of my grinding teeth,
venerating with some grim techniques.
Wolves at the door call me out for some gore
then I'm back on the prowl and I'm looking for more all night.

Evil lives in the skull that's blind.
Mirror of my face, I can't recognize.
Portrait is void. No memory.
